Mobile paintings #5-B aquatec paint on canvas and wood construction.
Jerry Okimoto (1924-1998) was a Japanese-American artist born in Hawaii. Jerry in known for his minimalist paintings, constructions and sculptures created in the 1960s and 1970s. Particularly interesting are Jerry’s mobile paintings like this one, which consist of a minimalist painting on canvas, with a sliding panel mounted in front of the background painting. The panel can be slid across the front of the background painting to create new images. We have photographed this work in five different positions.
