Javier Vilato (Spanish/French 1921-2000) was a Spanish born painter who lived in both Spain and France throughout his life. Vilato was the nephew and close companion of Pablo Picasso and worked closely with Picasso, adopting some of his uncle’s characteristics in his own painting. Vilato is a highly regarded artist in his native country of Spain, his adopted country of France, as well as other international art communities.
This work shows a strong influence of Vilato’s uncle, Picasso in the cubist style forms. This work was created in 1948, a year when Vilato was living with Picasso.
