Early pastel painting on paper of deer in a landscape, painted in 1930s by American artist Dorr Bothwell. Dorr (Doris) Bothwell lived most of her life in California but traveled extensively around the globe, both studying and teaching. Dorr painted in many styles including symbolist, modernist and surrealist. This painting is an early work, done in a modernist / art deco style. It is housed in a contemporary frame, under glass.
