A powerful abstract steel sculpture by California artist David Tolerton, (1907-2000).
David Tolerton was a multi talented San Francisco area artist who grew up surrounded by art and artists. Tolerton attended Stanford University in the 1920s, and originally produced ceramics before turning his attention to sculpture. He exhibited his works in galleries and museums around California during his life time.
This sculpture was created in the 1950s and was exhibited and sold through the prestiges Paul Kantor Gallery, Los Angeles in 1957. Included in the listing are images of a gallery show pamphlet showing this work.
The sculpture measures 40″ tall, is signed on the base, and is in excellent condition.
